McIlroy’s still searching but seems content

Rory McIlroy's struggle for form continues at Scottish Open | AP via USA Today

McIlroy is off to another slow start in this week’s Scottish Open. An up and down round ended with him 7-stokes off of the lead and threatening to miss yet another cut. However, following his comments earlier in the week, he may not be all that bothered.
I'm in a very fortunate position that if I have a bad day on the course, I go home and I have a nice dinner and have a couple of glasses of wine and all is right with the world.

McIlroy, still ranked #4 in the world, continues to try to find his game following a significant equipment change and his now infamous injury earlier in the year. He does seem to have it all in perspective which is a good sign. His recent marriage back in April appears to have McIlroy realizing that golf isn’t the most important thing in his life anymore.

What does that mean for his chances next week at Royal Birkdale? Anything is possible. The best do tend to shine brightest when the big events come around. Tomorrow will likely tell us a great deal. Stay tuned.
Update 7/14/17 2:00pm

Rory McIlroy will indeed miss his second cut in as many weeks in his preparation for the upcoming Open Championship. He finished his second round at the Scottish Open at one-over par. 10-strokes off of the lead and 2-strokes off of the cut.

He says he is close. His
game says otherwise. I still wouldn't count him out next week. Golf is a funny game like that. Especially when you have the potential of Rory McIlroy.
