Better Late than Never

CBS Sports 're-examining' policy that kept final round of RBC Heritage from being shown live | via John Strege for GolfDigest.com

Sunday’s weather forecast for Hilton Head, S.C., was not favorable, resulting in the PGA Tour moving up tee times to assure the final round was completed without delay. It was, and Japan’s Satoshi Kodaira defeated Si Woo Kim of South Korea in a playoff.

However, CBS chose to air its final-round coverage as scheduled, later in the day, not surprisingly, but it provided no alternative for those viewers interested in watching the tournament live, say, via live-streaming on the Internet.

While "live" does seem to be the most logical choice when it comes to airing sports I'm not sure that CBS was in the wrong here. At the end of the day, the purse and television rights money has to come from somewhere and the sponsors who paid for this event were expecting a particular audience at a particular time. I'd probably feel differently if we were talking about a Major, but with all due respect, this was the RBC Heritage.
