Several outlets are reporting that Tiger Woods is expected to announce that he will be playing at this year's WGC-Mexico event. It makes sense.
Woods is obviously loading up his schedule to get his game ready for Augusta. Adding Mexico to his calendar would give him a solid run of golf leading up to the year's first major:
February 14-17: Genesis Open
February 21-24: WGC-Mexico
March 7-10: Arnold Palmer Invitational
March 14-17: The Players
April 11-14: The Masters
As always, if Woods performs well, the excitement going into Augusta will be unmeasurable. If he falters in the coming weeks, questions will revolve around whether he's physically able to play that much golf against an increasingly strong field of young players.
The current PGA Tour season officially started back in October. But, with Woods getting ready to put in the competitive work to prepare for Augusta, it sure feels like the season is starting this week. Get your popcorn.
